From writer/directors Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, the duo behind THE HANGOVER and many other raucous comedies, comes another entry into the wild teen party genre with 21 AND OVER. This new trailer for the film puts the focus squarely on Jeff Chang (Justin Chon), who seems to be the punchline of the whole thing. His two “friends” (Skylar Astin, Miles Teller) seemingly drag Jeff Chang to a series of parties/adventures in celebration of his 21st birthday. Hijinks ensue.
I’m bored with this genre, but I get the appeal. It’s a niche market, really, and has its fleeting day in the sun, but movies like this are remembered in the same way you recollect what happened after a hard night of partying; large gaps of missing time with some random images that you aren’t quite sure are real or imagined. So, yeah, forgettable. On the other hand, this does have a WEEKEND AT BERNIES feel to it, which could work in its favor.
Weekend at Jeff Chang’s?:
Here’s the synopsis:
When Straight-A college student Jeff Chang’s two best friends take him out for his 21st birthday on the night before an important medical school interview, what was supposed to be a quick beer becomes a night of humiliation, over indulgence and utter debauchery.
21 AND OVER is slated to hit theaters on March 1, 2013.
