While the reboot PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH makes its way through post-production, the original PUPPET MASTER franchise is continuing at Full Moon, with the latest installment – PUPPET MASTER: AXIS TERMINATION – expected to be released later this year.

Back in October, we got a look at an AXIS TERMINATION trailer that contained a lot of stock footage from previous PUPPET MASTER films. Now a new trailer has arrived online that is packed full of new footage.

The final entry in a World War II era trilogy that began with 2010's PUPPET MASTER: AXIS OF EVIL and continued with 2012's PUPPET MASTER X: AXIS RISING, AXIS TERMINATION has the following synopsis:

To stop the Nazi war machine from winning World War II and affecting the outcome of the free world, BLADE, JESTER, PINHEAD and the rest of the indestructible Toulon puppets join forces with the masters of psychic powers!

Full Moon is taking their time with AXIS TERMINATION, doing all they can to make sure the special effects will be more impressive than the FX in recent installments have been. Some results of that effort can be seen in the trailer below, which also reveals that this film will be using a method I don't think any PUPPET MASTER has ever used before. Although human hands have stood in for puppet hands in the past, this time we have humans in full costume playing the puppets in certain obvious shots. I'm not sure how I feel about that, it's pretty jarring to see.

PUPPET MASTER: AXIS TERMINATION has about four weeks of post-production left before it's completed, then we'll have a better idea of exactly when fans will be able to see the movie. We'll update with more information when it becomes available.
