Director Tate Taylor’s (THE HELP) James Brown biopic GET ON UP has a new trailer for you to check out. 42 star Chadwick Boseman is the Godfather of Soul in the movie that will cover the famed performers life from growing up as an impoverished child to becoming one of the most popular recording artists of all time.
I'm a sucker for a good biopic, but I can't see GET ON UP bringing anything new to the genre. It’s nearly identical to how the RAY trailer set its story up and even includes all the cliché moments you would expect nowadays.
The cast however is something to boast; the film stars Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter, Jill Scott, and Dan Aykroyd. Chadwick Boseman looks like he’s gone full Brown for the role so hopefully his hard work pays off.
GET ON UP opens August 1st 2014.
