Yesterday, Spike shared a featurette that introduced us to one of the lead characters in their upcoming series The Mist, inspired by the Stephen King novella of the same name. Spike has since released another Misty featurette online, and while this one does contain a fair amount of footage from the show and offers a preview of several characters, those characters aren't what's being discussed. Instead, showrunner Christian Torpe, the man who "re-envisioned" King's story for television, and the show's cast members are being interviewed about their own personal connections to the works of Stephen King and their opinions on why his stories are so effective.
While Torpe and stars Alyssa Sutherland, Danica Curcic, Darren Pettie, Frances Conroy, Morgan Spector, and Dan Butler talk about King, the intercut footage also gives the impression that there are going to be different sorts of threats within the mist than even fans of the novella or the movie directed by Frank Darabont are familiar with.
The Mist
centers on a small town and a family torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world, and in some cases, each other. Family, friends, and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.
The first season will run for ten episodes. The Mist is scheduled to premiere on Spike on Thursday, June 22nd at 10pm.
