New stills and poster released for Lars von Trier’s Melancholia

Over at the newly-opened, very appealing official site for Lars von Trier’s upcoming end-of-the-world drama MELANCHOLIA, some new stills and a poster have cropped up, a few of which you can see here. The film premieres in Competition at the Cannes Film Festival next month and will most likely get a domestic release this fall.

The official synopsis: Justine (Kirsten Dunst) and Michael (Alexander Skarsgård) are celebrating their marriage at a sumptuous party in the home of her sister (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and brother-in-law (Kiefer Sutherland). Meanwhile, the planet, Melancholia, is heading towards Earth… MELANCHOLIA is a psychological disaster movie from director Lars von Trier.

The film stars Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, John Hurt, Charlotte Rampling, Stellan Skarsgård, Alexander Skarsgård, Brady Corbet, Jesper Christensen and Udo Kier.
