The SCREAM franchise is being revived by READY OR NOT directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (you can watch READY OR NOT at THIS LINK), and filming on the new sequel is set to begin in Wilmington, North Carolina by the end of this month. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it's safe to assume that the screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick involves creepy phone calls and someone killing people while wearing a Ghostface mask.
Franchise stars Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox are signed on to reprise the roles of Sidney Prescott, Dewey Riley, and Gale Weathers. They're being joined in the cast by SCREAM newcomers Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Dylan Minnette, Mikey Madison, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Kyle Gallner, with SCREAM 4's Marley Shelton on board to reprise the role of Deputy Judy Hicks.
Variety has learned that French-Tunisian actress/singer/model Sonia Ammar is also in the cast. It's said that this will be Ammar's "first significant part" in a feature film.
SCREAM 5 (we're not sure if the number will be in the title or not) is coming to us from Spyglass and Paramount. Project X Entertainment's Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein, and William Sherak are producing the film, with Chad Villella serving as executive producer alongside Kevin Williamson.
The film is aiming for a January 14, 2022 release… and I'm already getting excited that we're going to see another SCREAM movie with Sidney, Dewey, and Gale in it.
