The new Santa Clause series cast photo omits a featured player from the holiday film franchise

Disney gave everyone the gift of a jolly cast photo for its new Santa Clause series, and some fans hope the studio kept the receipt. Bernard, Santa’s Head Elf, is absent from the lineup. The character’s omission from the photo has angered fans of the Santa Clause franchise, and they demand to know what happened. David Krumholtz played Bernard in 1994’s The Santa Clause and 2002’s The Santa Clause 2. While Krumholtz did not appear in The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, many were under the impression he’d return for the series reboot. Alas, it seems as if Krumholtz is not involved in the new Santa Clause series.

For the uninitiated, Bernard is an anomaly in the Santa Clause franchise. You can say there’s no such thing as an elf thirst trap, But Bernard is precisely that for many people. How dare the House of Mouse deny us of Bernard, our sexy Elf King! Additionally, Bernard doesn’t just look good in striped tights. He also offers plenty of comic relief throughout both films in which he appears. Bernard is dry, sarcastic, knowledgable, and loves Christmas with all his heart. When it comes to elves, he’s the total package.

You can check out some of the angry tweets below:

Why isn’t Krumholtz a part of the cast? As one tweet points out, Krumholtz is 44 years old and may be content to sit this one out. Joining the cast of a television series is a massive commitment, and Krumholtz might not be feeling the Christmas spirit like he used to.

The new Santa Clause series photo features Tim Allen’s Scott Calvin, and Elizabeth Mitchell, who is reprising her role as Carol Calvin, aka Mrs. Claus. Both are joined by Allen’s real-life daughter, Elizabeth Allen-Dick, and Austin Kane, who stars as Cal, Scott and Carol’s eldest son. Kal Penn appears in the role of Simon Choksi, a game inventor and product developer, and Rupali Redd stars as Grace, Choksi’s angelic daughter. Devin Bright stars as Noel, Santa’s trusted right-hand elf, and Matilda Lawler as Betty, Santa’s Chief of Staff. Both are dressed in the holiday best for the photo.

What do you think about Bernard not being a part of the series? Are you excited about The Santa Clause coming back to spread more holiday cheer? Let us know in the comments section below.
