New rumors emerge regarding the Green Goblin costume in The Amazing Spider-man 2

Do I even need to say this story may contain massive spoilers for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, so you better turn back now if you don't want to know anything about the film? Probably not, but I will say it anyway just to be safe. Just a few days ago we told you about when to expect the first appearance of Green Goblin in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 as well as news on the appearance of Black Cat. Now we have news on what Green Goblin's costume will look like in the sequel. Will it be Power Ranger-esque like in the Sam Raimi film? Or will it be a physical transformation like Lizard, Rhino, and Electro in the Marc Webb films?

The answer is a little of both. According to Screen Rant, both MovieWeb and ComicBookMovie have scored detailed rumors on the Goblin outfit. Check out the details:

ComicBookMovie: the suit will once again “resemble” some type of armor (though really, short of having him wear spandex or mutating him what other options are there?). We’re told it’ll be a matte black and dark green design with spikes — not too dissimilar to Ultimate Green Goblin’s look apparently, though obviously Osborn will still be human.

MovieWeb: We now have a more accurate description of Green Goblin’s suit of armor, and apparently the costume designers are taking both a nod from Tony Stark’s Iron Man and Christopher Nolan‘s Catwoman… Green Goblin’s suit will be made up entirely of matte black armor that resembles a hi-tech motocross suit. The suit will remain open-faced, and there will be no helmet at all. Norman will have green hair that is spiked high up. In his ears, he will be wearing a Bluetooth device that will make it look as though he has the Green Goblin’s signature pointed ears, the same way Selina Kyle’s goggles worked in creating the illusion that she had cat ears. The back of the armor has a spine. At the moment, there are no green accents. From a distance, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Tony Stark’s signature Mark XLII armor had been painted black.

Uh, no mask?  Green hair?  I cannot picture Chris Cooper looking anything but foolish in an outfit like that.  Unless they are planning an actual physical transformation of his face, which ComicBookMovie seems to refute, this might look kind of goofy.  But, I wasn't too sure of Electro's new look either and Jamie Foxx looks pretty damn cool in the blue body paint.

In regards to Black Cat, the article goes on to theorize that both Felicity Jones and Dane DeHaan are being groomed for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 as a launching point for their future in Sony's Marvel universe.  Could a Black Cat movie be coming soon?  If theories are true and DeHaan will be playing Harry Osborn and potentially Venom, we may finally see that villainous spin-off we have been hearing about for years.

Either way this goes, Sony seems to really be thinking this through instead of just launching a ton of bad guys at Spider-man.  I cannot think of another superhero movie that has successfully pulled off having the hero battle foes in multiple places at the same time.  THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 may be gearing up for a multi-film story that actually works.  Spider-man may not be able to save Gwen Stacy in the movie because he cannot fight Rhino, Electro, Vulture, or anyone else at the same time.  The stakes finally seem high enough to make this sequel work well.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 opens May 2, 2014 followed by THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 and 4 in 2016 and 2018.
