New Rise of the Planet of the Apes trailer is online and looking good!



While the first trailer for Fox’s upcoming RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES intrigued, this brand new trailer released over at Yahoo! Movies is much better, showcasing some truly terrific new simian visuals. The work on Caesar himself – the leader of the ape revolution – is particularly fantastic, and will undoubtedly look even better once the finished film rolls around later this summer.

What element hasn’t quite grabbed me yet, though? James Franco. I know they needed to sell this film on something besides the brand and effects, but the actor – great as he can be – just looks wrong in the role, and frankly, unbelievable as a scientist. Hopefully, seeing him in the actual film will prove my doubts wrong.

RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES opens wide on August 5th.

Synopsis: An origin story in the true sense of the word, RISE OF THE APES is set in present day San Francisco. The film is a reality-based cautionary tale — a science fiction/science-fact blend where mankind’s hubris leads to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
