What a perfect trailer to debut on a Friday! For those of you stuck behind cubicles or whatever daily grind you're in, this is like the perfect sounding horn to the freedom release of the weekend. I'd caution against some of the more extreme activities in this new red-band trailer for FILTH, however I think it captures a good spirit of low-down, dirty fun. James McAvoy stars as a corrupt (and I mean cor-f*cking-rupt) cop that's battling the ailments of excess to get his shit together. FILTH is based on the novel by TRAINSPOTTING author Irvine Welsh, so you should have a pretty good idea of what you're getting into here. I'm all for it.
Get Filthy:
Here's the synopsis:
Scheming Bruce Robertson (James McAvoy), a bigoted and corrupt policeman, is in line for a promotion and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Enlisted to solve a brutal murder and threatened by the aspirations of his colleagues, including Ray Lennox (Jamie Bell), Bruce sets about ensuring their ruin, right under the nose of unwitting Chief Inspector Toal. As he turns his colleagues against one another by stealing their wives and exposing their secrets, Bruce starts to lose himself in a web of deceit that he can no longer control. His past is slowly catching up with him, and a missing wife, a crippling drug habit and suspicious colleagues start to take their toll on his sanity. The question is: can he keep his grip on reality long enough to disentangle himself from the filth?
FILTH, starring James McAvoy, Jamie Bell, Imogen Poots, Jim Broadbent, Eddie Marsan, and Kate Dickie is set for release in the UK on September 27, 2013, but has not secured a U.S. release yet. Stay tuned.
