On the heels of the recent teaser video from Showtime's upcoming horror series "Penny Dreadful" is a second production video that discusses the series' ties to classic horror literature. This one is actually quite interesting as we see series creator, writer and executive producer, John Logan talk about "Penny Dreadful's" literary roots and how he mixed the tales of Frankenstein, Dracula and Dorian Gray into the show. He also goes on to say that their aim for the show was to bring audiences something disturbing and honest—I'm cool with that! Dig it below!
The show stars Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, Timothy Dalton, Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Hearry Treadaway, Billie Piper and Danny Sapani.
The series draws from famous works of literature, posing that some of the most terrifying protagonists — Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray, Dracula’s Van Helsing and more — come together in Victorian London.
"Penny Dreadful" was written and executive produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan and executive produced by Logan's Desert Wolf Productions, along with Oscar winner Sam Mendes and Neal Street's Pippa Harris. The Show will have 8 episodes and will start shooting this fall in London and will air in 2014.
