New Paranormal Activity sequel gets a 2021 release date

A few months ago, we shared the news that Paramount's Studio Chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos had said the studio was working with Blumhouse "to bring a new installment of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY" out into the world. Now Paramount has announced when that new sequel is going to be released: March 19, 2021.

That gives them just under a year and a half to put together the latest entry in this found footage franchise. The movies used to come out on a yearly basis, so they'll have a bit more time to work on this one than they had on most of the sequels.

The release date is the only bit of information that has been revealed about this project so far.

Consisting of five core films and a couple spin-offs, the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY series seemed to have come to an end with the release of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE GHOST DIMENSION in 2015. Instead, it was just taking a six year break.

This wasn't a franchise I was ever a big fan of. I stopped seeing the movies on the big screen after watching PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 at a dollar theatre (it really did only cost $1 to see movies at that place), and there are a few of them I never got around to watching at all.

But if you've been anxiously waiting for PARANORMAL ACTIVITY to return, March 19, 2021 is going to be an exciting day.
