A new OLDBOY clip/trailer has arrived, this one urging the fans out there to participate in a little scavenger hunt of sorts. As anyone who has seen the original film knows, once released from captivity, our OLDBOY protagonist can only discover the identity of his captor by finding the dumplings he was fed day after day. Looks like the remake’s Joe Doucett has the same journey ahead of him.
So the studio is doing a little stunt that will result in one lucky person being gifted with Joe’s hammer, which is another infamous element of OLDBOY. All you have to do is tweet @FilmDistrict a photo of a dumpling at your favorite local dumpling spot with the hashtag #EATTHECLUES. Easy enough, right? No telling how they’ll determine the winner, but it’s likely that it will be random.
OLDBOY is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of Joe Doucette, a man who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement, for no apparent reason. When he is suddenly released without explanation, he begins an obsessive mission to find out who imprisoned him, only to discover that the real mystery is why he was set free. Co-starring Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley, OLDBOY was directed by Spike Lee, from a script by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, The Cell, Thor). The film was produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison and Nathan Kahane.
OLDBOY opens on November 27th.
