New My Little Pony trailer introduces villain Tempest Shadow!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I never understood the hate for MY LITTLE PONY (nor, I guess the appeal either). To me, it always just seemed like harmless fluff that was cute and colorful, and not much else. But for some reason, whenever it gets mentioned, it either leads to undying praise for it, or vitriolic scorn. However, while it's not my cup of tea, to have a show that is positive and is about the powers of friendship can't be all bad, right? Maybe the people that don't like it don't have friends?

Anyway, there's a movie coming out that has an all-star cast including Kristin Chenoweth, Liev Schreiber, Michael Peña, Sia, Taye Diggs, Uzo Aduba, and Zoe Saldana, as well as Emily Blunt playing the villain Tempest Shadow introduced in the above trailer. I mean, it looks like the show – which is…fine. BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD DO AMERICA and THE SIMPSONS MOVIE both looked pretty close to their television counterparts and were both a blast (the former more than the latter, admittedly), so there's no reason to think that this film won't please fans as well.

Also, here's the official synopsis:

A new dark force threatens Ponyville, and the Mane 6 – Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity – embark on an unforgettable journey beyond Equestria where they meet new friends and exciting challenges on a quest to use the magic of friendship and save their home.

So any MLP fans out there? And if so, how does the film look to you? Either way, sound off below!

Meanwhile, MY LITTLE PONY: THE MOVIE will gallop into theaters October 6th.
