It's been a few weeks since I shared the first images from the upcoming Stewart Hendler directed MAX STEEL (played by Ben Winchell). Judging by the comments, some of you were divided about the movie based on the Mattel action figure. The new images today feature a deeper look into the movie which Hendler called "raw, like Friday Night Lights with super powers".
Here’s a brief synopsis:
MAX STEEL is an origin story about Max McGrath, a 16-year-old who suddenly begins generating massive energy bursts from his body. Max then meets a techno-organic alien name Steel, and the two form a symbiotic bond that keeps their individual energies under control.
In regards to that bond, Hendler explains:
'Neither of them can live without the other, and they drive each other crazy, “but when they work together, they can actually be something cool."
"It’s very much designed to be grounded within the teen experience.” “Besides, I’m a sucker for coming-of-age stories that [relate] how difficult it is to be a teenager"
Personally, I think that statement nails it when looking at these first pictures from the movie; I definitely anticipate the first footage or trailer. MAX STEEL also stars Ana Villafañe (HIDING) as Sofia Martinez, the tantalizing Maria Bello (A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE) as Max’s mom, Molly McGrath and Andy Garcia as Dr. Miles Edwards. The film was penned by Marvel veteran Christopher Yost (THOR: THE DARK WORLD).
Take a look at the new MAX STEEL images below, the movie is expected to hit in 2015.
