In just about two weeks MAN OF STEEL will finally take flight, hopefully brushing aside the failed attempts to bring Superman back to the big screen from the likes of Tim Burton, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Singer. Anticipation is high, especially with the nicely timed marketing blitz that’s revealed what appears to be a seriously kick ass Superman film. Today, we have a new featurette that dives into the film as well as the announcement of a new animated short from director Zack Snyder, who will collaborate with legendary animator Bruce Timm, storyboard artist Jay Oliva, as well as DC’s Geoff Johns and Mike Carlin and WB Animation’s Peter Girardi.
Here’s the featurette:
Details on the short, which will debut a sneak peek animatic of the two-minute short at Comic Con this year, are being kept secret, but insiders for THR said:
“Snyder envisioned one continuous shot, without edits, that’s an homage to the Man of Steel and his many iterations over the past 75 years: Max Fleischer’s cartoons, on-screen portrayals by George Reeve and Christopher Reeves, iconic versions drawn by artists Wayne Boring, Curt Swan and Neal Adams, on up through Henry Cavill’s interpretation in Man of Steel.”
Finally, in celebration of Superman’s 75th anniversary, DC has unveiled a new logo that will accompany marketing materials, comic books, etc. across the board in an effort to keep Superman in the pop culture spotlight throughout the year, with Warners CEO Kevin Tsujihara saying:
“Warner Bros. is privileged to be home to the global Superman brand, which has had an unparalleled impact on popular culture for 75 years. We are proud to commemorate this milestone with exciting entertainment across the entire studio and across the globe, ensuring this enduring icon reaches new generations of audiences.”
MAN OF STEEL hits theaters on June 14, 2013.
