Holy sh*t! The new HBO horror series LOVECRAFT COUNTRY from producers Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams doesn't seem to be f*cking around! Not only does the show look intense, simply by talking directly about systemic racism, as well as containing some patentedly gruesome Lovecraftian imagery, but it just goes out and shows off probably one of the first fully realized live-action depictions of Cthulhu! And he looks awesome!
Anyway, here's the official synopsis, if you were curious:
HBO’s new drama series, based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff of the same name, debuts this August. The series follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams). This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.
Meanwhile, LOVECRAFT COUNTRY – starring Jonathan Majors, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, and Courtney B. Vance – will premiere on HBO August 16th!
