New Lost Boys pilot shoots this fall

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As we all know by this point in time, the CW was going back to the drawing board with their upcoming TV series based on THE LOST BOYS. The only actors being kept on board for the second pilot are Medalion Rahimi as Stella and Dakota Shapiro as David. And today we hear that other than all the recasting, this retooling will not be extensive and it will all kick off later this year.

The show's executive producer Rob Thomas says:

The writer, Heather Mitchell, is doing a rewrite on the script right now, we have gotten through the notes process. We are going to shoot the pilot this fall. There were scenes that we thought we could do a better job on, so it’s going through a 40% rewrite. It’s not a total rewrite.

This TV reboot's synopsis is very reminiscent of the original film:

In The Lost Boys reboot, after the sudden death of their father, brothers Michael and Sam Emerson move to Santa Carla with their mother, Lucy, who hopes to start anew in the town where she grew up. But the brothers soon find themselves being drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla’s eternally beautiful and youthful undead.

Rob Thomas executive produces with writer Heather Mitchell, Dan Etheridge, Mike Karz, and Bill Bindley. Rebecca Franko and Juliana Janes produce.

Meanwhile, Joel Schumacher directed the original THE LOST BOYS movie from a screenplay written by Janice Fischer, James Jeremias, and Jeffrey Boam. Harvey Bernhard produced the classic flick which starred Corey Haim, Jami Gertz, Edward Herrmann, Barnard Hughes, Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman, and Dianne Wiest. Warner Bros. unleashed the teenage monster movie into a theater near you back on July 31, 1987.

I don't know about you but I sure hope this pilot eventually gets off the ground… with the REAL Frog Brothers back!
