New Line snags the rights to make a Fruit Ninja movie, for some reason

Fruit Ninja Movie

If you're anything like me, I know you've long fantasized about a feature-film based on one of the biggest iOS games of all time, and no, I'm not talking about Angry Birds, we've already done that, do try to catch up. After the box-office success of THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE, studios have been looking at other properties to adapt which people likely associate with sitting on the toilet. Sounds like a solid plan.

THR reports that New Line Cinema has snagged the rights to make a feature film based on Fruit Ninja, the iOS game in which you slice falling fruit while trying to avoid slicing falling bombs. J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani (HOW TO SURVIVE A GARDEN GNOME ATTACK) have already been hired to pen the script for FRUIT NINJA which will apparently "revolve around a team of misfits who are recruited to become Fruit Ninjas in order to save the world." I wish I could say that I was surprised that we've stooped so low as to adapt Fruit Ninja into a live-action family comedy, but it's certainly not the most questionable project in development that I can think of. I'm looking at you Emoji movie.
