Urgh. I don't know about you but I have noticed the trend of what I, personally, refer to as "Redbox Covert Art/Posters" for horror flicks that are quite simply awful and cheap-looking. This newest poster for the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE prequel LEATHERFACE is no exception.
The trend seems to be quite popular among the masses as I have done more than a few tests where I share a bitchin' piece of classic-style horror poster art with people (my "mainstream" friends of Facebook and the like) along with a God-awful sloppy Photoshop nightmare and ask them to choose which movie they'd rather see.
No lie, they tend to pick the one with the bad-photoshop poster. I don't get it.
Maybe you lean towards the ones I deem terrible, so to each his own. Either way, you can check out the new poster below and let us know what you think on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
LEATHERFACE synopsis:
In Texas, years before the events of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, in the early days of the infamous Sawyer family, the youngest child is sentenced to a mental hospital after a suspicious incident leaves the sheriffs’ daughter dead. Ten years later, he kidnaps a young nurse and escapes with 3 other inmates. Pursued by authorities including the deranged sheriff out to avenge his daughter’s death, the young Sawyer teen goes on a violent road trip from hell, molding him into the monster known now as Leatherface.
LEATHERFACE stars Stephen Dorff, Lili Taylor, Vanessa Grasse, Sam Strike, Jessica Madsen, Finn Jones, James Bloor, Nicole Andrews, Julian Kostov, and Sam Coleman.
LEATHERFACE hits exclusively through DirecTV September 21st, with a wider VOD and limited theatrical release on October 20th.
Fun side-note: I think the "hidden" Leatherface in the new prequel is the girl in the yellow dress pictured above. After all, Leatherface has been know to dip into cross-dressing… What do think?
