Next month moviegoers will be taken back to the world of JURASSIC with the fifth movie marking the 25th anniversary of the series. In JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM we may be getting something a bit different than the last movie, with a tone harkening back to the scares of the first film and director J.A. Bayona giving the film a, in his words, “gothic” feel. In a new feature you can watch filmmakers Bayona, Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow, and actors Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard talk about this new advenutre and what we can expect next month.
In FALLEN KINGDOM we will see Owen (Pratt) and Claire (Howard) go to the island to try and save the dinosaurs from an impending volcano, only to learn they've been duped by shady business people who have schemes with dinosaurs of their own. This means Owen has to team up with his raptor buddy to save the day, which involves said raptor (named Blue) narrowly escaping an explosion. Oh, and other stuff happens too, but the raptor stuff is key here.
The new trailer won over some people who weren't so sure about the movie, while at the same time sparking some fresh head scratches. For instance, people seem to like Bayona's darker approach to the movie, which may be because JURASSIC WORLD tired so hard to replicate the original 1993 movie that it felt uninspired. However, then there's the Pratt/raptor team-up angle, which is like a more expensive TURNER & HOOCH thing. I honestly don't know what to expect with this movie, which at least means I will go into it with an open mind. Can the raptor also make a fun quip after leaping out the window? Maybe something like, "Looks like that room has *puts on shades* gone extinct."
JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM arrives June 22.
