New Jigsaw trailer & images promise buckets of horror

Just when you thought the SAW series was dead, JIGSAW decided to come along and remind us there’s room in the world for more grizzly violence and blood by the buckets. Anyone familiar with the series knows we can expect to see some poor souls locked in a series of creative and vicious traps, and most of them will meet a particularly gruesome death. We now have a glimpse at a few of those unfortunate victims thanks to a few new images courtesy of EW.

The first image calls to mind the setting of the first film, wherein two men were chained up in a bathroom. There’s a lack of bathtubs here, but there are more than enough chains to make up for it.

Next, we have a simple example of why you should never dismiss quicksand as a just minor threat.

One-half of the directing team – Michael Spiering – spoke about the violence in this new entry, saying how he and co-director Peter Spiering tried to aim for more fun violence than gruesome torture porn:

We’ve got some pretty wild traps in the film — we don’t shy away from the gore. It’s such a perfect Halloween scare-fest. It’s perhaps not quite as vicious and more fun, which is something we tried to inject into it. But it’s still full of good fun gore, that’s for sure. And, on top of that, it’s got a really great mystery, and there are very interesting twists. It’s SAW for 2017.

And now we have the new trailer for the movie, teasing all the traps and creepy dolls you could want!

The SAW series started off on a high note, but by as soon as the second film I counted myself out. It was just too much. All of it: the traps, violence, bad storylines, worse plot twists and cheesy acting made for too exhausting an experience. Everything was on overload and I felt like my own head was in some sort of ingeniously crafted vice made out of shark teeth and laced with barbed wire. The trailer didn't do enough to make me change my mind, but I'll admit I'm easily persuaded. I could perhaps find my way into a theater if the producers sent me, say, a fine box of chocolates…

JIGSAW arrives this Halloween.
