On August 8 many theater-goers will be sitting down to check out the Michael Bay-produced TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, and while I'm up for checking that one out eventually it'll have to wait as my money is going to Steven Quale's INTO THE STORM, a film that looks utterly terrifying to me. Yes, I said terrifying. I count myself lucky as I've survived a tornado and witnessed firsthand the destruction and death they bring, and anyone who has experienced a twister can attest that nature is one scary mutha! INTO THE STORM looks like a blast, and today we have a few new images from the flick to share with ya below. I'm not sure how INTO THE STORM's box-office take is going to compare to a film like TMNT on opening weekend, but it certainly looks like it'll be the better film.
In the span of a single day, the town of Silverton is ravaged by an unprecedented onslaught of tornadoes. The entire town is at the mercy of the erratic and deadly cyclones, even as storm trackers predict the worst is yet to come. Most people seek shelter, while others run towards the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-a-lifetime shot. Told through the eyes and lenses of professional storm chasers, thrill-seeking amateurs, and courageous townspeople, “Into the Storm” throws you directly into the eye of the storm to experience Mother Nature at her most extreme.
Directed by Steven Quale and starring Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Callies and Matt Walsh, INTO THE STORM opens August 8th.
