Like it or not, the movie to beat in terms of box office this fall/winter movie season is THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE. With a massive built-in audience from both the books and first film, not to mention fans of Jennifer Lawrence, it has been predicted to be the biggest movie of the year in terms of numbers. Whether or not the movie is any good is another story altogether, but it does have a lot going for it this time out, particularly adding director Francis Lawrence (I AM LEGEND) to the mix and having the tributes be seasoned veterans for their "battle royale" for the 75th Hunger Games. Today, we have a smattering of new images and an IMAX featurette, which highlights the film's use of the format, which is kind of cool as it doesn't kick in until they hit the fighting grounds.

I didn't get into the first film all that much, but felt that Lawrence was great as Katniss and that it was perfectly harmless in terms of story, unlike the last YA franchise, TWILIGHT, which was mostly insulting in every sense of the word. THE HUNGER GAMES definitely has more crossover appeal, though, so we'll see how well it fares with the second entry. We know it'll make money, but will it be more than just harmless entertainment? We'll see.
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE hits theaters on November 22, 2013.
