Hit-Girl is all set for a brand-new, uber-violent adventure in comic book panels, and this time she’s bringing her double-edged blades and potty mouth with her in a story from none other than Kevin Smith. In a late-night announcement, it was unveiled by “Kick-Ass” creator Mark Millar that the young vigilante would be getting a new series from the writer/director of CLERKS, MALLRATS, DOGMA and more, with artwork by Pernille Orum.

The four-issue mini-series is called “Hit-Girl: The Golden Rage of Hollywood,” and the all-too-timely story will find the often-blood-soaked teenager venturing to California to slice and dice all types of terrible, perverse Hollywood predators. Launching in January 2019, each new issue will pay tribute to the different eras of cinema. As well, the new series will feature familiar faces from the original “Kick-Ass” series, which focused around the title hero and saw the debut of Hit-Girl. That series also spawned two movies with Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass) and Chloe Grace Moretz (Hit-Girl).

Smith, who suffered a near-fatal heart attack earlier this year talked about how writing the new series helped him recover, and showered praise on Millar and Orum.
“I wrote most of The Golden Rage of Hollywood Hit-Girl arc while recuperating after my health scare, so it was Mindy McCready and her bloody thirst for justice who helped me mend my broken heart. Telling tales with Mark’s toys was an absolute pleasure, but having Pernille bring it all to life makes this a must-read for me! Pernille’s style is like hot cocoa for the eyes and soul, so I’m ecstatic she opted to lend it to our pint-sized, pre-pubescent Punisher!”
Millar also put out a statement saying how big a Smith fan he’s always been, and how excited he is to have the filmmaker working on his world.
“Kevin is one of my favorite people in Hollywood. He writes dialogue the way I wish people talked, and his intelligence and humor fits into this world just so perfectly. I wrote him a fan letter over twenty years ago asking to see his Superman script and I was there when Clerks was screened in Scotland even before that, so you can imagine how delighted I am to be somewhere on the same credit page as this guy.”
I just finished my final #HitGirl comic book script for the 4 issue mini-series I’m doing for @mrmarkmillar! Had a blast writing it! After the @JeffLemire story set in Canada, I get to take Hit-Girl to Tinsel Town in a story I’m calling HIT-GIRL: THE GOLDEN RAGE OF HOLLYWOOD! pic.twitter.com/NuGntMJxSU

Netflix recently acquired all of Millar's comic book franchises, Millarworld, with the plan to turn many of the properties into movies and TV shows for the service. Not among the acquisition were the rights to "Kick-Ass" and "Kingsman" franchises, which have both gotten movie adaptations from different studios.
So, are you guys pumped for this new series? My hope is that between this and the current Hit-Girl run from Jeff Lemire that there's enough buzz around the character to finally get her her own solo movie. Moretz did an amazing job bringing her to life in the KICK-ASS movies, and lord knows that character is meant to lead her own gloriously-violent flick. As for the comic itselt I’m psyched to see what Smith brings to the character, and Millar is right in saying his sense of humor is perfect for this world.
