New Halloween will hit IMAX screens for one week only starting Friday

HALLOWEEN made a killing this weekend, coming within only a few million bucks of VENOM’s record for best October opening weekend. Putting the movie in IMAX theaters would have pushed the movie’s total over the mark, perhaps, but really, it just would’ve been awesome to see the movie on that massive screen with impressive sound. Now, because of popular demand, audiences will get that chance as the movie will be making its IMAX debut starting this Friday, and for one, gory week only.

The folks at IMAX made the announcement that the movie would be getting the big(ger) screen treatment starting on October 26 and will run for one week before November movies like BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY start taking over IMAX screens.

The movie wasn't shot in IMAX, so it won’t exactly be like seeing AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR or even FIRST MAN in the format. Still, IMAX put out a statement saying the movie will be re-mastered for better visuals and sound to fit the IMAX experience.

The IMAX release of Halloween will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

Again, it’s not like this was a movie that was meant to be seen in IMAX, but if there’s any reason to see it on the massive screen it’s to be enveloped in the mood and tension and to hear that Carpenter score coming out of those speakers. If you really loved the movie and want to see it again this is the best way to do it, and if you have yet to see it, why not make the leap in IMAX? Go big or go home.

HALLOWEEN hits IMAX October 26 and is in theaters now.
