New Grand Theft Auto game in development at Rockstar

Rockstar Games is in the news once again after announcing that a new Grand Theft Auto game is officially in the works. Naturally, Rockstar revealed very little about its plans for a new Grand Theft Auto game beyond the fact that they are working on it.

“Many of you have been asking about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series,” Rockstar said in a message posted to social media. “With every new project, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we’ve previously delivered. We’re pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the series is underway.”

The announcement adds, “We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details. On behalf of our entire team, we thank you all for your support and cannot wait to step into the future with you!”

The last entry in the franchise was Grand Theft Auto V, released in 2013. Since that time, Grand Theft Auto has raked in millions upon millions of dollars thanks to its online counterpart Grand Theft Auto Online. Much like the core series, Grand Theft Auto Online drops players into a world overruled by crime and chaos. As players compete to be masters of their domain, Grand Theft Auto Online constantly throws a wrench into the works by allowing players from around the world to invade each other’s game. The game teaches players to keep their bravado in check as their empire could be toppled at any moment by another user. After all, you don’t remain the top dog by treating everyone with kid gloves. You’ve got to be ruthless and show no mercy.
