Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and the Red Hood have invaded DC FanDome in a new Gotham Knights trailer. The game takes place in a Batman-less Gotham City, with a mysterious group of villains known as the Court of Owls emerging from the shadows.
In Gotham Knights, players switch between four members of the Bat-family after being captured by the Court of Owls. With no Batman coming to save them, they’ll have to work together to survive the ordeal. Throughout their adventure, the Bat-family will encounter popular villains from Batman’s rogue’s gallery (like the Penguin) as well as members of the Court of Owls. The game looks to feature plenty of enemy types to pummel, elaborate levels, insane traps, and cool Bat-tech to master.
Here’s the official synopsis for Gotham Knights:
Batman is dead. A new expansive, criminal underworld has swept the streets of Gotham City. It is now up to the Batman Family; Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin; to protect Gotham, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals. From solving mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history to defeating notorious villains in epic confrontations, you must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save the streets from descent into chaos.
Gotham Knights is an open-world, action RPG set in the most dynamic and interactive Gotham City yet. In either solo-play or with one other hero, patrol Gotham’s five distinct boroughs and drop in on criminal activity wherever you find it.
Established within the pages of Batman: The Black Mirror and Batman: The Gates of Gotham, and penned by writer Scott Snyder, the Court of Owls is a surreptitious organization whose roots dig deep into the history and formation of Gotham City. Despite being relatively new to the comic book scene, the Court is now considered to be an important part of the Batman canon, with many of its members working to manipulate the politicians, planning, and inner workings of Gotham from the shadows. The Court’s weapon of choice is a highly skilled group of puppet-like assassins they call Talons. Fun Fact: Dick Grayson was intended to become a Talon before being adopted by the billionaire Bruce Wayne.
What do you think of today’s new Gotham Knights trailer? Are you excited to play the game? Which member of the Bat-family is your favorite? I’m looking forward to playing as all four, though I’ll probably leave Red Hood for last. Let us know how you plan on playing in the comments section below.
