A handful of TV spots have been released for the upcoming reboot of GHOSTBUSTERS, and while there is new footage and jokes to be found in them, the primary point of interest will probably be a quick moment in spot #2, which features the return of the Stay Puft marshmallow man.
In the original GHOSTBUSTERS the marshmallow man was something pulled from the mind of Ghostbuster Ray Stantz to be used against him and his teammates. But this is a remake, there is no Ray Stantz, so how is the Stay Puft marshmallow man going to show up this time? Rumor has it that this version of the formerly delicious creature wouldn't be so tasty, as it's said to be a parade balloon that has been brought to life by the ghosts that are flooding the streets of New York City by that point in the film.
Directed by Paul Feig from a script he wrote with Katie Dippold, the new GHOSTBUSTERS stars Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones.
The story:
Dead criminals from all eras of New York’s underbelly past have returned to roost among the living in Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot. Pilgrims, old-timey sailors, Revolutionary War spirits, and even a couple of zoot-suited gangsters are ready to take on four formidable female busters looking to rid the city of its phantasmic filth.
Chris Hemsworth, Neil Casey, Andy Garcia, Michael K. Williams, Matt Walsh, Pat Kiernan, Cecily Strong, Charles Dance are also in the film, which features cameos by Ozzy Osbourne and original GHOSTBUSTERS stars Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, Sigourney Weaver, and the man who played Ray Stantz, Dan Aykroyd.
The new GHOSTBUSTERS will be in theatres on July 15th.
