Jon Watts-directed thriller starring George Clooney & Brad Pitt lands at Apple Studios

Another high-profile movie has found a home at Apple Studios with the news announced they made a deal for an untitled thriller from MCU Spider-Man director Jon Watts that will star George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

The deal will also see the film get a significant theatrical release and this is all due to the fact that between Clooney and Pitt, an eight-figure sum was put on the table to ensure the theatrical release component. The exact amount of the deal wasn’t revealed but given the talent involved, it was more than likely robust.

The film, which Watts also wrote, follows two lone-wolf fixers assigned to the same job. The package hit the market just last week and it suddenly became the center of a huge bidding war that, according to “Deadline“, involved seven to ten entities. Those battling for the film were Sony, Lionsgate, Annapurna, MGM, Universal, Warner Bros., Apple, Netflix, and Amazon.

Apple winning the bidding war makes this film another addition to a series of projects that are particularly high-caliber for the streamer. Apple also landed Emancipation, a new film from director Antoine Fuqua, and starring and produced by Will Smith; the highly sought-after Killers of the Flower Moon, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro; Spirited, a musical take of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday story starring Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds, and Octavia Spencer; and Raymond and Ray, a new film starring Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke.
