MIDDLE-EARTH: SHADOW OF MORDOR was one of those rare property-based videogames that was actually good, putting it in the esteemed company of RIDDICK: BUTCHER BAY, STAR WAR: BATTLEFRONT, and DIE HARD TRILOGY. Its success can be attributed to its awesome combat, great graphics, and the "Nemesis System" that made you viciously hate pixels on a screen more than you have since that fucking laughing dog in DUCK HUNT.
Well a sequel – SHADOW OF WAR – is on the way, and some new gameplay footage has just been released to the public. Let's see how it stacks up:
Whoa, this game looks metal-as-fuck! However, the gameplay footage does admittedly seem vague about how a lot of that cool shit gets triggered (especially if those aren't predetermined cutscenes), but it looks sweet regardless. I am honestly most impressed with the amount of people fighting on screen, which gets the feel of LORD OF THE RINGS more than any game to date. Not to mention the awesome updated "Nemesis System".
And, oh yeah, you can ride a fucking dragon. Shut up and take my money!
Anyway, you can slice up some Orcs yourself on X-BOX ONE and PS4 August 22nd, 2017.
