During the PS2 era, in the wake of the massive success of GRAND THEFT AUTO III, there were a ton of open world “GTA Clones” that cluttered the game store shelves (before practically everything went digital and those things still existed). There were certainly some good ones (MAFIA, SAINTS ROW, SIMPSON’S HIT AND RUN), and some abysmal ones (like that LEISURE SUIT LARRY game where you played as his nephew in college).
But one of the highlights included the sci-fi comedy game DESTROY ALL HUMANS, where you played as a mischievous grey alien who wrecked havoc on Earthlings in the 1950s. Here’s the official description:
The player controls Cryptosporidium 137 ("Crypto" for short), an alien who arrives on Earth in 1959 America to harvest human DNA. Crypto is equipped with a vast arsenal of alien weapons such as the Zap-O-Matic and Anal Probe, to defeat enemies. He also has superhuman skills such as psychokinetic powers and the ability to disguise himself as humans. Crypto can use a jetpack to quickly navigate the environment. He can also command the flying saucer, which is equipped with a death ray to kill opponents
Now they’re doing a well-deserved (in my opinion) remaster of the first game, and you can see some sweet new gameplay footage in the embed at the top of the article!
Meanwhile, the game will be released on consoles and PC July 28th.
So what do you guys think? Fans of the original DESTROY ALL HUMANS? If so, how do you like how the remake is shaping up? Either way, sound off below!
