A new featurette for director Wally Pfister's TRANSCENDENCE highlights "guarding the threat" of Artificial Intelligence with a closer look at the story and interviews with cast and crew, including Pfister, Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman, and Rebecca Hall. The new sci-fi flick is the directorial debut of Pfister, who was Christopher Nolan's cinematographer for THE DARK KNIGHT Trilogy and so far looks like a solid entry to the genre with an especially great cast.
Here's the featurette:
Here's the synopsis:
A terminally ill scientist downloads his mind into a computer. This grants him power beyond his wildest dreams, and soon he becomes unstoppable.
It's hard to argue with a cast like Depp, Freeman, Hall, and additional players Kate Mara, Paul Bettany, and Cillian Murphy, all of whom bring some gravitas to the material. Mara, especially, who has been so great in recent years on the small screen with roles in American Horror Story and House of Cards, is primed for her role in this. She can definitely play crazy, so that'll be fun to watch here.
TRANSCENDENCE opens on April 17, 2014.
