New featurette for The Internship with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson highlights the “nooglers”

I haven’t been able to make up my mind on THE INTERNSHIP yet. On one hand, I really enjoyed Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in director Shawn Levy‘s WEDDING CRASHERS, but on the other…this ain’t WEDDING CRASHERS. Now, that doesn’t mean that we need a retread of the same formula, but THE INTERNSHIP just seems like a tame pony to a wild stallion when comparing the two. I could be completely wrong, but that’s the vibe I get. That said, I’m still intrigued by the concept and Vaughn and Wilson work exceptionally well off of each other in this genre, so there’s definitely potential for something worthwhile.

Today, we have a featurette that explores the young co-stars of the film, who act as both teammates and competition for “the interns.” Much of the cast are recent college graduates themselves, which makes for a relatively smooth transition into a film where they’re playing the same thing, although with some significant alterations in character. They seem like a well-rounded lot that speak to the current generation, which may well help bridge the gap in bringing in younger audiences to see two “old men” in a fish out of water story.

Take a look:

Here’s the synopsis:

Billy (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Owen Wilson) are salesmen whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital world. Trying to prove they are not obsolete, they defy the odds by talking their way into a coveted internship at Google, along with a battalion of brilliant college students. But, gaining entrance to this utopia is only half the battle. Now they must compete with a group of the nation’s most elite, tech-savvy geniuses to prove that necessity really is the mother of re-invention

THE INTERNSHIP, starring Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, John Goodman, Max Minghella, Rose Byrne, and B.J. Novak is set to hit theaters on June 7, 2013.
