"Dance can be ugly."
Recently I finally had the chance to check out director Luca Guadagnino's remake of Dario Argento's SUSPIRIA (pre-order HERE). Short review: I loved it. And one of the coolest factors of the new movie was the focus on dance. I'm not familiar with the style of dance contained within the film, but I found it to be a perfect interpretation for the movie as a whole. Basically, both were strange as shit. Or, you know, you could call them "Art".
And speaking of SUSPIRIA and the dances contained within, today we have an all-new featurette from the upcoming Blu-ray release called "Suspiria -Featurette: The Secret Language Of Dance". As you might imagine the featurette goes into how big a part the art of dance plays in the remake. I'm not normally so interested in dance, but after seeing SUSPIRIA I'm (a bit) more intrigued. Especially when it's presented in the context of the new movie.
If you're as (relatively) interested in dance as I am following Guadagnino's SUSPIRIA, then you can check out the video below. It's interesting as hell. After that, make sure to hit us up and let us know if you plan to snag a copy of SUSPIRIA on Blu-ray when it hits.
Synopsis:
Young American dancer Susie Bannion arrives in 1970s Berlin to audition for the world-renowned Helena Markos Dance Co. When she vaults to the role of lead dancer, the woman she replaces breaks down and accuses the company's female directors of witchcraft. Meanwhile, an inquisitive psychotherapist and a member of the troupe uncover dark and sinister secrets as they probe the depths of the studio's hidden underground chambers.
