After a year of waiting to see what happens after Thanos’ mighty Snap, we’re only ten days away from the culmination of 11 years of moviemaking – AVENGERS: ENDGAME. Just a reminder, that’s not 11 years with one movie coming out every 18 months or so: that’s 11 years and 21 movies. That’s countless moments to look back fondly of, including rousing moments, hilarious bits and some inspiring speeches. In the new trailer for ENDGAME, we get taken back across all the years of the MCU, with key moments assembled from every movie, in the end teasing the biggest battle any of our heroes have ever faced. And if this trailer does anything, it’s proved they’ve all seen some s***.

Kicking off with the quote from Samuel L. Jackson in AVENGERS ("Heroes. It's an old fashioned notion."), the trailer gets into things with a glimpse at the movie that started it all – 2008’s IRON MAN – and going through everything else from THE INCREDIBLE HULK to CAPTAIN MARVEL, the trailer paints a massive, epic picture of just how far the MCU has come over the years, introducing new characters and worlds. We’ve seen so much more than what we ever thought possible when Marvel started down this road, but now after seeing new planets, new countries and more the end is nearing, and while there’s still more MCU to come, ENDGAME will certainly mark the end of an era.
To bring all of this to a close will require one hefty story, and it's confirmed this one will run about three hours long, give or take a minute. That is pretty long by any movie's standards and is a testament to the level of storytelling this movie has to operate on in order to wrap things up. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo talked about the length at length (*awkwardly adjusts tie*), saying such a beefy runtime is necessary to bring everything to a proper close.
Again, this is a culmination film of 22 movies, it’s a lot of storytelling to work into it. Emotion is an intrinsic part of that to us. When you have to tell a really complicated story and you want strong emotional moments with the characters, it just requires a certain amount of real estate. This one, in particular, feels like three hours worth of real estate.”
