New drunk driving PSA for Robocop features new footage from the upcoming reboot

A new holiday PSA against drunk driving has been released, featuring the future of law enforcement: ROBOCOP. Probably the LAST person/cyborg you ever want to get pulled over by, the new ROBOCOP reminds us not to get behind the wheel after drinking this holiday season and, of course, to see his new movie next year. It's a relatively safe marketing tool for the upcoming reboot, seemingly trying to capture the social satire of the original, but not quite on the "Nuke 'em" level.

Here's the synopsis:

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it's meant billions for OmniCorp's bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

I'm expecting the worst from the new ROBOCOP to be honest, but hoping to be pleasantly surprised. Like the recent flop that was OLDBOY, there's some significant evidence out there that folks don't want remakes of classic favorites. Hard to argue with that when the numbers don't add up at the box office, eh? Still, I'm willing to give ROBOCOP a shot, if even just for the cast and director Jose Padilha's involvment.
