The first POKEMON: DETECTIVE PIKACHU trailer dropped some months ago, and the internet was understandably blown away by how surprisingly awesome it looked. Now, prepare to have those already blown away expectations be further blown away, as a new trailer has dropped showing off more Pokémon, more action, more laughs, and way more caffeine than you thought could be crammed into two minutes.

Revealing more of the plot and how Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds) found his way to Tim (Justice Smith), the new trailer is all about the adorable electric mouse breaking down some clues and laying out his research in a way that makes Charlie’s investigation of Pepe Silvia in IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY look like a game of "Clue". But the real prize is all the Pokémon-heavy action, showing off way more creatures than we’ve ever seen before, including looks at Machamp, Snorlax, more at Charizard and, in a twist, a reveal of the incredibly powerful Mewtwo at the end. Not even Detective Pikachu saw that coming.
Directed by Rob Letterman (GOOSEBUMPS) and written by Letterman, Dan Hernandez, Benji Samit, and Derek Connolly, the movie also stars Kathryn Newton (LADY BIRD) as Lucy, Suki Waterhouse (INSURGENT), Omar Chaparro (OVERBOARD) Chris Geere (MODERN FAMILY), with Ken Watanabe and Bill Nighy.
Here's the synopsis:
The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to work together, as Tim is the only human who can talk with Pikachu, they join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.
