Another new clip for Ridley Scott's THE COUNSELOR, based on the screenplay by Cormac McCarthy (THE ROAD), has hit the interwebs and features a heightened exchange between the titular character, played by Michael Fassbender, and his drug-dealing pal, Reiner, played by Javier Bardem. The two argue over a drug deal gone bad, which puts the wheels in motion for the entire story. It's interesting to hear Fassbender's "Southern" accent, while Bardem doesn't hide his natural one. Either way, it's two great actors doing their thing. In addition, we have five new character posters, featuring a roll-up of the main cast (below).
What do you think I should do?:
McCarthy is no stranger to hard-boiled intensity and based on the script alone, this one will have people nibbling their fingernails right up to the end credits. It's a hell of a story; complex, frightening, violent, and metaphoric. I am genuinely interested to see how Scott handles the adaptation and just how bleak it ends up being, which is another common tone in McCarthy's work. One thing is for sure, though: THE COUNSELOR is not to be missed.
THE COUNSELOR, starring Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Rosie Perez, John Leguizamo, Goran Visnjic, and Breaking Bad's Dean Norris.
