With OLDBOY about three weeks away from release, we’ll be seeing more and more from the Spike Lee thriller, which certainly has divided fans of the original film into categories of curious and dismissive. (Count me among the former; even though I cherish Park Chan-Wook’s masterpiece, I can’t help but be intrigued by this “reimagining”.) Here we have a brand new clip featuring Josh Brolin’s confused anti-hero confronting Sharlto Copley’s mysterious villain and Copley’s lethal henchwoman, played by the exquisite Pom Klementieff. Watch out for her.
OLDBOY is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of Joe Doucette, a man who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement, for no apparent reason. When he is suddenly released without explanation, he begins an obsessive mission to find out who imprisoned him, only to discover that the real mystery is why he was set free.
Starring Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, Michael Imperioli and Pom Klementieff, OLDBOY was directed by Spike Lee, from a script by Mark Protosevich. It opens on November 27th.
