The trailer for director Lars Klevberg's (POLAROID) CHILD'S PLAY remake starring Aubrey Plaza as Andy's Mom, Brian Tyree Henry as Mike and Gabriel Bateman (LIGHTS OUT) as Andy is said to be attached to Nicholas McCarthy's (THE PACT) creepy-kid horror flick THE PRODIGY starring Taylor Schilling (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK) and Jackson Robert Scott (Georgie from director Andres Muschietti's take on Stephen King's IT) when it opens in theaters nationwide February 7. And today we have official confirmation via two teaser posters.
One is the standard half-Chucky face we've seen before, but the other is all-new boosting an image of Chucky (from the neck down) holding a big-ass kitchen knife. Simple but effective, I say! Now all I wonder is if this trailer will be released online as well. I'm thinking no, but you never know. We'll keep an eye out for the trailer this Friday and pass it along if it hits these here internets. Until then, you can check both of them out below (along with The Kill Counter for the whole CHILD'S PLAY series) and then let us know how excited YOU are for this upcoming remake.
The upcoming remake's official synopsis reads:
A mother (Plaza) gives her son (Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.
The remake is directed by Lars Klevberg (POLAROID) from a screenplay written by KUNG FURY 2 writer Tyler Burton Smith with STEPHEN KING'S IT producers David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith producing. Aaron Schmidt and Chris Ferguson executive produced. Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, and Carlease Burke co-star. CHILD'S PLAY stalks and slashes its tiny terrifying ass into your local multiplex come June 21, 2019.
