Director Rupert Wyatt impressed the hell out of the world when he directed the much better than it had any right to be reboot of THE PLANET OF THE APES with RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. We keep our eyes on Wyatt here at AITH, and so we've been keeping a close eye on his upcoming sci-fi flick CAPTIVE STATE. We've already seen a teaser trailer for the film, along with a poster (check that out below and the first teaser HERE). And today we wanted to make sure to share the official trailer with you guys.
The film looks impressive as hell and sports an A-list cast to boot, including John Goodman (THE BIG LEBOWSKI) and Vera Farmiga (THE CONJURING). You can check out the official trailer below and then make sure to let us know what you think! And on top of today's new trailer, the film has also been given a (slightly) more in-depth synopsis. It goes a little something like this:
Set in a Chicago neighborhood nearly a decade after an occupation by an extra-terrestrial force, “Captive State” explores the lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents.
Along with directing the film, Wyatt co-wrote the film's screenplay along with Erica Beeny (THE BATTLE AT SHAKER HEIGHTS). The upcoming sci-fi thriller also stars Madeline Brewer (CAM), Ashton Sanders (MOONLIGHT, STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON), Jonathan Majors (HOSTILES, WHITE BOY RICK), and Colson Baker a.k.a. Machine Gun Kelly in his big screen debut. CAPTIVE STATE invades theaters on March 29, 2019.
Again, I'm really looking forward to checking this movie out when it invades theaters this coming March. If for no other reason than seeing John Goodman and Vera Farmiga share the big screen together. They are, after all, two of the top actors working today and I hope we don't get shafted from seeing them bounce off one another. I guess we'll see in March. Throw in CAM-star Madeline Brewer and I'm there!
