New Bumblebee featurette & clip show the film’s triple changing Decepticons

As Paramount Pictures continues to rev the engine of their TRANSFORMERS spinoff, BUMBLEBEE, in preparation for the film's December 21st release, the studio has unveiled a new behind-the-scenes featurette and clip for the robots in disguise reboot. The first video provides fans with a detailed look at the triple-changing Decepticons, Shatter (Angela Bassett) and Dropkick (Justin Theroux). As the footage rolls out, BUMBLEBEE director and Laika Studios CEO Travis Knight talks about how he wanted the villains in his movie to channel the designs and nostalgia of the mega-popular 1980s Transformers toy line. Up next in the video is Digital Artist Supervisor Anthony Rispoli, who reports that Shatter and Dropkick are the first two triple-changers they've created for the TRANSFORMERS film franchise. Shortly thereafter, Visual Effects Supervisor Jason Smith climbs into the driver's seat to express his enthusiasm for seeing the triple-change transformations up on the big screen. Throughout the featurette, there's plenty of robot-on-robot action, and I'm not talking about the Transformers XXX parody, my friends.

You can see the 'Triple Changers' featurette for yourself below:

Next, we have a new clip from the film that highlights the Decepticons triple-changing transformation sequence. In addition to showing off the nefarious robot's sweet moves, the clip highlights how … well, deceptive the Decepticons can be. As the sinister duo explain the details of their mission to a group of soldiers, you can almost see the gears inside John Cena's Agent Burns grinding in suspicion of Shatter's obvious lies.

Here's the official synopsis for BUMBLEBEE:

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

BUMBLEBEE, as director by Travis Knight from a screenplay by Christina Hodson, and starring Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena, Angela Bassett, Justin Theroux, Dylan O'Brien and Megyn Price, will race into theaters on December 21st.
