New behind the scenes pictures of the late Heath Ledger as the Joker from The Dark Knight

Like most fans, I was extremely disappointed with the details on The Dark Knight Trilogy Ultimate Collector's Edition box set. I was really hoping for more special features, especially about Heath Ledger and his portrayal of the Joker. Who knows what behind the scenes footage, deleted scenes and/or interviews they have with the late actor, and it's a shame they won't be included with the box set. It's something fans would really enjoy, much more than the cheap looking toys that come with the Ultimate Collector's Edition.

The Spanish website Vanitatis did a piece recently on Justo Dieguez, the creator of the fighting style known as Keysi that is used in all three of Christopher Nolan's Batman films. The article included two behind the scenes pictures of Heath Ledger as the Joker, one of which has never been seen before. There's also a previously unseen image of Dieguez with Christian Bale as Batman, but obviously people are going to be much more interested in the Heath Ledger pictures.

It's tragic what happened to Heath Ledger, and even if you don't like THE DARK KNIGHT it's pretty clear that Heath Ledger gave it his all as the Joker. We'll probably never know how much playing the psychotic character took its toll on the actor, but his performance will go down in history as one of the greatest of all time, and not just compared to other comic book movies.

So instead of starting a war in the Strike Back about THE DARK KNIGHT being overrated or pissing on Nolan fans for being too loyal, lets use this time to remember and appreciate a great actor that left us far too soon.
