New behind-the-scenes image shows the lawmen of Leatherface

It's been a while since we've heard anything about LEATHERFACE, the new entry in the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE franchise that will be serving as a prequel to the original 1974 TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and its 2013 sequel TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D. It was filmed in Bulgaria last spring (here are some pictures from the set) and we got a poster in September, but there has been no word on when Lionsgate intends to release the movie.

Directed by INSIDE's Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, who describe it as a "naturalist, brutal and disillusioned road movie", and written by Seth M. Sherwood, LEATHERFACE tells what happens when

a young nurse is kidnapped by a group of violent teens who escape from a mental hospital and take her on a road trip from hell. Pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge, one of these teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind, molding him into the monster we now call Leatherface.

The cast includes Vanessa Grasse, Sam Strike, James Bloor, Sam Coleman, Jessica Madsen, Lilli Taylor, Stephen Dorff, and Finn Jones.

While the wait for release details continues, producer Christa Campbell has kindly thrown CHAINSAW fans a bone by posting a new behind-the-scenes image on her Instagram. This picture, which can be seen below, gives us our first look at Dorff in character as the deranged lawman mentioned in the plot description, accompanied by a fellow officer. A couple of hapless guys who are going to find themselves up against a freshly "born" Leatherface.
