New Behind-the-scenes featurette for Divergent with Shailene Woodley and Kate Winslet

A new behind-the-scenes featurette for the young adult adaptation, DIVERGENT, has arrived and actually does a better job of selling the movie than the trailer. It's a far more compelling peek at the high-concept (re: far fetched) idea behind the story and gives us a better glimpse at some of the characters in the film. Perhaps its my age showing, but I'm much more interested in Kate Winslet's character than any of the others as it's kind of cool to see her in a "villain" role. Likely, it will just be another stereotypical bad guy part, but there's always potential with someone of her caliber.

Choose your faction:

Here's the synopsis:

In a future world people are divided into factions based on personality, a teenager is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, her life is threatened.

Yeah, I just find the whole "faction" thing a little odd. Granted, I haven't read the book (it's in the queue for never), but from what's portrayed in the trailer and featurette, it seems rather ridiculous to choose one character trait and be defined by it completely. It's like some weird mash-up of Ayn Rand's "Anthem" mixed with THE HUNGER GAMES, which I suppose could be seen as a selling point for some. Just not this guy.

DIVERGENT, starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Tony Goldwyn, Ray Stevenson, Ashley Judd, and Kate Winslet hits theaters on March 21, 2014.
