The first BAD MOMS was a surprising smash hit, raking in over $100 million domestically last year. A sequel was greenlit, but obviously, you can’t do the same thing. The moms, played by Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn, can’t just throw a bigger party. No, you gotta double the moms (Cheryl Hines, Christine Baranski, and Susan Sarandon), switch up the setting (Christmas time) and up the ante on the raunchy-ness. A BAD MOMS CHRISTMAS does all of that, especially the latter by treating Santa better than Mrs. Claus has in years.
I actually didn't dislike the first BAD MOMS. Yeah, it's not a comedy masterpiece, but the leading ladies are great, there were plenty of funny bits, and I truly felt like they dug (somewhat) into the struggle of being a single mom in today's world. It was way better than a movie with "Bad" label had any right to be, let's just say that. I don't think the sequel will be better in any way, simply given the rushed production and release, and the fact that most comedy sequels are WAY worse than the first. At least mall Santas will enjoy their time.
A BAD MOMS CHRISTMAS brings the joy November 3.
