The Television Critics Association (TCA) Winter 2015 Press Tour is under way and with it comes new information regarding Starz Channel's mucho-anticipated "Ash vs. Evil Dead" series, which reunites executive producer/director Sam Raimi, executive producer Rob Tapert, and executive producer and star Bruce Campbell. We've already heard a little bit about what we can expect from Campbell, who spilled his guts on a few details last month, and now Starz head Chris Albrecht has dropped a few new details, including when we can expect to see "Ash vs. Evil Dead" premiere!
Speaking with IGN, Albrecht shared that the series would be 10 half-hour episodes and that “The half hour idea was their (Raimi, Tapert, Campbell) idea. And I can tell you it’s a chock-full half hour.”
Albrecht also dropped the following details on the new series:
“We are shooting it in New Zealand. We’ll have to import some cars that drive left-hand and import some signs because it kind of takes place in classic American towns or cities. Rob Tapert, who is the heart and soul of that hands-on producing team, makes his home there and we shot “Spartacus” there and there are great production teams there. We’re looking forward to being down there and flying talent back and forth.”
As for when the show will premiere, Albrecht shared…
“I think most likely it will be fourth quarter [of 2015]. End of third quarter, fourth quarter, something like that. We’ve got a lot of shows this year. We’re very, very excited.”
Entitled “Ash vs. Evil Dead”, the series is written by Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi and Tom Spezialy.
Last year Raimi gave a statement about moving forward with "Ash vs. Evil Dead" which gave fans of the films plenty of reason to be excited about continuing the story in this new series, stating…
“‘Evil Dead’ has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chain saw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it."
Sam Raimi will also serve as executive producer, along with Tapert and Bruce Campbell. Ivan Raimi will co-executive produce and Aaron Lam (“Spartacus”) will serve as producer.
