Disney shows no signs of slowing down their onslaught of live-action adaptations of their animated films, and the next film on the slate is Guy Ritchie's ALADDIN, which re-imagines the animated classic for a new generation. Although early trailers caused ALADDIN to come under scrutiny, I've become more excited for the film the closer it gets to release. Disney has dropped several new clips from the film, the first of which finds the Genie (Will Smith) explaining the finer points of wish-making to Aladdin (Mena Massoud), and the second, seen below, shows Aladdin introducing Jasmine (Naomi Scott) to his magic carpet. That…sounds dirty for some reason.
In addition to Will Smith, Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott, ALADDING also stars Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, Navid Negahban as the Sultan, Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders, Numan Acar as Hakim, Alan Tudyk as Iago, and Frank Welker reprising his roles from the original film as Abu and the Cave of Wonders. Our own Editor-in-Chief Paul Shirey caught a scene from the film at CinemaCon last month, and said that it looked like fun and was "really energetic and full of visual flair."
ALADDIN will hit theaters on May 24th.
