The reboot of the HELLBOY franchise has been filming for a while now, with David Harbour in the title role and Neil Marshall directing, but the names of three of its cast members have only just been revealed.
Those three newly announced cast members are Sophie Okonedo (pictured), Alistair Petrie, and Brian Gleeson. Okonedo is playing Lady Hatton, "a resident seer at the Osiris Club", with Petrie as Lord Adam Glaren, a high-ranking member of the club, which is dedicated to "uncovering supernatural mysteries". Gleeson is playing Merlin, who is, as you would expect, a wizard. In fact, in the Hellboy comics the character is the Merlin you've heard about from Arthurian legend, so I assume that is also the case in this movie.
Scripted by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, Aron Coleite, and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, this reboot finds
Hellboy, along with his team of paranormal researchers, trying to save the world from a medieval sorceress who wants to destroy humankind.
In the cast with Harbour, Okonedo, Petrie, and Gleeson are Ian McShane as Hellboy's mentor Professor Broom, Sasha Lane as his love interest Alice Monaghan, Penelope Mitchell as the elder witch Ganeida, Daniel Dae Kim as Major Ben Daimio (who can turn into a jaguar), and Milla Jovovich as the villainous Nimue, Queen of Blood.
At one point, this movie was going to be called HELLBOY: RISE OF THE BLOOD QUEEN, but now it's simply HELLBOY. It's set to reach theatres on January 11, 2019.
